    "should be asking"

With these statistics we should be asking ourselves: what can we do as individuals and as communities to help our convert brothers and sisters find comfort in Islam?

To my knowledge, "verb be" must be followed by third conjugation and "being" comes after (is, are, was, were), what is your take on this kind of structure, people?

My take is that it's perfectly correct.

You could also say '. . .we should ask ourselves. . .'

Hmm. What sort of knowledge is that? It's fine (although the phrase 'With these statistics...' leaves something to be desired).
