    bust up

    Hello,
I have read an interview about Michael Richards and He used the expression "I busted up after that" what does busted up mean in this context?
    Here's the whole thing
"when Richards opens up about how devastated he was following his public meltdown. "I busted up after that event... it broke me down," he reveals. "It was a selfish response. I took it too personally."
    Thanks

The two terms I've bolded mean roughly the same in this context. It means some sort of emotional breakdown.
