Please explain with some example that how to use "Was to" in speaking ?

Someone else expected him to do something, or told him to do something, or he was in some way required or asked to do something.

some example...please check and tell my mistake and some reason

- I was to go collage OR I was supposed to go collage.
- My father told me to go to bank but i could not go there because i was to/was supposed to go collage.

Uncle : Hi,where are you ?
Me : I am still in US.
Uncle : What ? you are in US ? But What about your mom ? you were to/were supposed to go India to get her back to
US.

Please tell me What are the error and What i should use (was to/was supposed to) ? Why?

- I was to go to college OR I was supposed to go to college. The second is more emphatic.

- My father told me to go to the bank but I could not go there because I was supposed to go to college.

Uncle : Hi,where are you?
Me : I am still in the US.
Uncle : What? You are in the US? But what about your mom? You were supposed to go to India to bring her back to
the US.

Always capitalise I.

Don't leave a space before a question mark.
