Please clear my doubt on the following sentences. I am not sure whether the article 'the' is necessary.

1) She was appointed as teacher adviser of the girl guide society and the badminton club.

2) She was appointed as the teacher adviser of the girl guide club and the badminton club.

Which one is correct?

Not necessary, but OK.

I believe "Girl Guides" is a proper noun and should be capitalized. In the US, it would sound more natural to me as "advisor to" instead of "adviser of."
