    borrow(check out)

    Which is more common? "borrow" or "check out" from a library?

    I'd say "borrow" is more common.

    Well again, context/situation is key. For example, if the person is actually at the library when making the statement, I would use "check out". Whereas, if the person might be speaking about a problem with borrowing the book, I would go with "borrow".
