    Question Say in other words

Could you paraphrase the underlined part in the two sentences below.

    1. The term environment broadly indicates the surrounding of an individual organism or a community of organisms, ranging on up to the entire biosphere, the zone of earth that is able to sustain life.

    2. By surroundings is meant all the living and nonliving materials that play any role in the organism's existence, from soil and air to what the organism feeds on and the organisms that may feed on it.

    Re: Say in other words

For number 2, did you look up the definition of the phrasal verb "to feed on"?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
