    visiting that place in day

1)I don't remember visiting that place in day.

2)I don't remember any time I visited that place in day.

Are both the sentences correct to say"(to the the best of y knowledge) I haven't been to that place in day time".?

Re: visiting that place in day

I don't remember visiting there during the day.
I don't recall ever visiting it in daylight.
(You can mix a match a little bit.)
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Re: visiting that place in day

There is the idiom 'by night', but 'by day', though understandable, does not feel quite right...(except in the phrase 'by day and night' or in a complex phrase like 'sleeping by day and walking by night, to avoid difficult questions' - that's quite an exception, so perhaps 'by day' is just OK... What do other people think

PS Both COCA and BNC put 'by day' just more common than 'by night', even when followed directly by a "." (to rule out any complex forms). It looks as though I was just wrong.
