What are the differences between the usages of how are you and how have you been ?

You can use both to people you know. "How are you?" refers to the present ie "How are you right now?", and "How have you been?" refers to the time that has elapsed since you last saw the person.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
