Here are two situations in the classroom:
1) a student made a mistake in his paper that he had turned in three days ago and the teacher is talking about it in class
2) a student has just made a mistake in class
How shall I phrase the following idea in both situations so that the sentences would be grammatically correct:
I am glad you made (have made) a mistake - you gave (have given) me a chance to teach you!
