What is the difference between "in any case", "at any rate", "at all events", "anyhow" and "anyway"?
Could you provide me some examples / situations where the above phrases would be best used?
I'm taking a stab at some translation work and any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Not much, though I would say 'in all events'. Anyhow/anyway are less formal and more likely to be used in spoken rather than written language, and wouldn't be used in formal writing.
