Hi,
Would anyone please help me get the right usage? Besides, is using 'to' in the following sentence considered completely ungrammatical?

'This chair belongs to the other room.'

How about, 'that chair doesn't belong to our furniture'? (Considering 'furniture' is a group of things.)

Say you'd had a room redecorated and somebody had rehung a picture on the wrong wall. You'd say 'This picture doesn't belong on that wall'.

If they'd put a chair back in the wrong room you'd say 'This chair belongs in the other room'.

If they'd put a chair with the wrong suite (a set of matching furniture), you'd say 'That chair doesn't belong with our suite.'

Thanks for the helpful reply. I seem to have a little bit problem with the last preposition. I've already seen the example, 'These papers belong with the others'. Does it mean 'they should be a part/and with the other papers'?
