Please check the following sentences. Which is acceptable?

1. I had an exciting visit to the world's biggest train station, which was famous for its grand, spectacular and imposing building.
2. I had an exciting visit to the largest train station which was famous for its grand, spectacular and imposing building in the world.

Please check the following sentences. Which is acceptable?

1. I had an exciting visit to the world's biggest train station, which was famous for its grand, spectacular and imposing building.
2. I had an exciting visit to the largest train station which was famous for its grand, spectacular and imposing building in the world.

#1, but "was"? Does it still exist and is it still considered famous? Then, I would use "is".
