Hello,

Again another possibly silly question from me. How do you count "curtains"? Do you count one piece of cloth on one side of the window as one curtain? OR Do you count one curtain (both sides) per window?

Thank you.

We usually hang a pair of curtains at our windows.

But a pair of curtains consists, of course, of two curtains. You can count them. So one curtain hangs on the left and one curtain hangs on the right. In the case of my sitting room bay window, I have three curtains!

You were lucky! We lived in a hole with a cardboard box for a roof, we didn't have any of your sissy windows!

Roof! What we would have given for a roof in our stagnant pond.

I shudder to think what the world would be like if you lot went out drinking together in person.

Now I'm tempted to see if we can make that happen!

The Four Yorkshiremen scene is far more addictive than any drug- mere mention of it turns normally sane people into crazies dredging up ever deeper despair. Heroin and meth-amphetamine have nothing on it.

I've acted in a rendition of the Four Yorkshiremen sketch. There exists a photograph of me on stage, with a very fetching wig and stick-on moustache, a cushion up my jumper and my legs wide apart (!) in the throes of "You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt."
