I pushed the door slightly -> Slightly did I push the... // Slightly I pushed the ...

If we place an adverbial phrase at the front of a sentence to emphasize

does an inversion occur?


1. I pushed the door slightly.

2. Slightly did I push the door.

3. Slightly, I push the door.


4, I well remember his name.

5. Well do I remember his name.

6. Well I remember his name




Which are grammatical between 2 and 3, and 5 and 6?

1-3 would all sound better with "gently" instead of "slightly." 1 & 2 (subject to my note below) work a bit with "slightly" but 3 does not.

2 & 5 both sound like something out of an Edwardian era story.

I don't find 6 to work at all.
