    as referred

teacher, did I use these words "referred" and "instead" OK?

She says she did not see Dr. Niang as referred by her doctor as she was not able to get an appointment sooner. She saw Dr. Gin instead.

    "Instead" is fine.

The use of "referred" in this way is not very natural. I would say "She says that although she had been referred to Dr Niang by her doctor, she was not able to get an appointment with him/her quickly. She saw Dr Gin instead".

"Sooner" was not appropriate in your original as you didn't explain sooner than what.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: as referred

Or "...she could not get an appointment with her any time soon."
