What does " crown the whole" mean

Hello, how are you guys doing? I want to know the meaning of the expression " crown the whole" . I read this expression in the book Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen

"He was quite young, wonderfully handsome, extremely agreeable, and, to crown the whole, he meant to be at the next assembly with a large party". This is a description of Charles Bingley.
… "to crown the whole" means to add the perfect finishing touch. Informally, to "top it off", "put the icing on the cake".
