Hi guys again;

What is the difference between: " They are saying me...." and"they say me ...."
For instance; "mum says me it is dangerous to walk alone in the street at midnight."
or " my friends are saying bla bla bla..." sorry I could not complete the sentence :-(

Thanks in advance!

These should be 'They are telling me' and 'They tell me'.

Hi,
You are making a very common mistake. "Mum says me" is wrong. "Mum tells me that..." or "Mum says that..."

If you say "people are saying..." it means that many people are talking about something and saying the same thing. People are saying that George is going to ask Mary to marry him. People are saying that Elinore's baby is really Peter's, not Richard's.

My mother has told me that it's dangerout to walk alone at night.
People are talking about the man who has been robbing people in the park at night.
People are saying that there's a man who has been robbing people in the park at night, though so far, no one has gone to the police.

They say that cigarettes are bad for you, but I don't believe it.
