Hello there;

I really am mixed up as to how conditional type2 relates to a future result , I've always thought this type of conditional is exclusvely about unlikely situations in present time.

Ex:If saw her, I would tell her or If I were home I'd be in bed.

Welcome to the forum, btech. :hi:

This type of conditional can refer to a hypothetical future or a counterfactual present. If there is no time adverbial, context will normally make the time clear.

Even without context or time adverbial, it is fairly certain that the first of your sentences refers to a hypothetical future, the second to a counterfactual present

Unlikely future or impossible/imaginary present.
