see - dynamic or stative verb

I have a question about the verb 'see'. At school we did another usage of 'would' similar to the usage of 'used to' i.e. repeated past actions that are no longer truth. We were told that 'would' in these cases can be accompanied by dynamic verbs only and therefore stative verbs are out of question. Thus, I would to ask if in the following sentence 'would' is possible.

They would see him in front of the building every day.

I would say it is OK, because 'see' has many differrent meanings and from the sentence above it is not clear what meaning we have in mind.

    Thank you in advance

Re: see - dynamic or stative verb

'They would see him in front of the building every day' meaning 'They used to see him . . . .' is just fine.

But stative verbs are fine too.

We'd walk into Gramma's house, and it would smell like cookies.
He'd put on different disguises to try to fool us, but we would recognize him from his laugh.
Sometimes he wouldn't remember who we were and would call us by his brothers' names.
My money didn't always last the month, and I would need a little help from my parents.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
