She acts in films / plays in films?

She is not only a singer, she also acts in films.

Is it correct? I mean, of course, you can say "She is an actress", but I want to use a more "descriptive" way of putting it.
And "She stars in films" is only to be used if I want to say that she always plays leading roles, isn't it?

If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

Yes for both questions, though stars could also be used form a prominent role rather than the lead. Plays in films doesn't work- you use play with the part/role/character in the film.
