    Cliche and expression

Please could you tell me the difference between a cliche and an expression? Thanx

The difference depends on your point of view.
A cliche is an expression that lost its meaning through over-use.
Many years ago 'the best thing since sliced bread' (showing my age!) was an expression, but now it is a cliche and, as such, can be used in a humorous and derogatory manner.
If you have some examples, I'm pleased to help.

    Hope this helps,
