    And we expect you to do basic work yourself. Get a good dictionary. Look up both words. If you think that the definitions suggest that they mean the same thing, then post the definitions here for our comments.

    I have just checked Macmillian and Cambridge
    One of the meaning get control or a strong influence.

    One of the meanings of what? Please post the word "prevail" and the definitions you are using. Then post the word "influence" and the definitions you are using. Then tell us where you think they cross over.
