    Usually we don't "return" people as though they were a library book.

    He tried to find a way for her to return to town.
    He tried to find a way to help her get back to town.
    He tried to help her get back to town.

    More context would help you find the right sentence.

    Don't forget that you need to start your sentences with a capital letter.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
