    Is this a purpose or a result? If it is a purpose, it's short for "so that plants..." and if it's a result, why isn't there a comma before "so" like ", so the plants..."?

    ma126)Most students at Queen's University in Canada would pick this place as their favorite spot on campus. It's a tall wall inside the science building....The soil, a special mixture of mud, coconut bark, and other natural materials, easily soaks up this water so the plants can grow well.

    As the soil is a special mixture, it is more likely to be purpose.
