    Igniting

    1. Fire
    2. Set fire
    3. Set on fire
    4. Set afire
    5. Set aflame
    6. Set ablaze

I would like to ask English speakers which is more common.

    Re: Igniting

    In BrE, "set fire to".

By the way, "to fire" does not mean the same as "to ignite".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: Igniting

(When used metaphorically it can - 'It fired her enthusiasm'. But in this metaphor, the idea of igniting is pretty abstract.)
