    "... is about wanting to ..."

    An obligatory apology is about wanting to get someone off your back;
    a sincere apology is about wanting to be let off the hook;
    a heartfelt apology is about wanting to repair a relationship

    What part of speech is the word "Wanting?"
    Definition of wanting | Collins English Dictionary

    My guess is a verb since it is followed by infinitive, and means craving.

    It's a gerund. 'Craving' is not an exact synonym.
