    I'd say: I have work experience.

    I agree with bagzi94. Depending on context, 'had' sounds like you don't have it any more.
    I'm not a teacher yet, but I am studying a Bachelor of Education with an English Literature major at Charles Sturt University, in NSW, Australia.
