Hi, please see the question below.
I think the answer is (A), but the right answer is announced as (C).
Is (C) right answer?
Please tell me. Thank you in advance.

If the Flores Symphonic Orchestra ------- more shows this year, they could gain greater exposure to international audiences.

Now that I think about it a bit, I think "held" gives a sense of "counter-to-fact" to the statement, while "holds" seems like it is a future possibility. So, I do think they are both possible, but with different meanings.

You need a greater context here. If A is the right answer, this means that the speaker suggests that the Orchestra has not programmed any more shows, thus making the suggestion in the if-sentence an unreal situation. If C is correct, on the other hand, this means that the speaker suggests it is possible that more shows have been arranged for this year. I suppose the wording of the question here is inadequate. If the sentence continued with sth like " but last night it was their last show " then the answer would unequivocally be A.

It's a clumsy question as could can be used with a) or c). When writing tests with an idea in your mind of the answer you're looking for, it's possible to overlook another possibility.

I've done it before.

I think 'holds' is very unlikely. In the main clause, the speaker treats 'Orchestra' as a plural noun. S/he would be unlikely to consider it as a singular noun in the same sentence.

Considering all responses, I must go with (C).
