    please help me to learn English

    "Can you imagine singing at the top of his lungs like that? Why it completely drowned out the choir."
    I want to understand the sentence please help me friend??

    1. "singing at the top of his lungs" = singing very loudly - as loud as he could.
    It's more normally used in the similar context of shouting at the top of one's voice.

    2. "drowned out the choir" = it was so loud that you couldn't hear the rest of the choir.

    Please note that there was a comma missing from your quote. It should have appeared after the word "Why" which is used here like an exclamation. The word could be omitted completely.
