    hit her limit

Four-year-old Eliana was helping her mom pick up some of Eliana’s things before bedtime. When Mommy told her to put away the clothes on her bed, Eliana hit her limit. She turned around, put her little hands on her hips, and said, “I can’t do everything!

What does hit her limit mean?

    Re: hit her limit

She reached a threshold particular to herself, beyond which she could no longer be tolerant and remain silent.

Well, without more context I can only guess that "mommy" had been issuing several instructions of the type stated, and that little Ellana was not happy with the tasks requested. So, little Ellana apparently had heard enough ("hit her limit"), spoke up and probably repeated the statement she had heard mommy use so often. But, at the risk of overplaying the scenario, I think that little Ellana might be ready for a "time-out" in her room, that is, after she puts the clothes away.
