    ability

Could I say "Going to college without the company of our parents helps to develop our ability of independence or our independent ability"?

Is "ability" collocated with "independent" from a native's point of view?

    Thanks!

    Jason

    Re: ability

I wouldn't use it, I'd use something helps us to become more independent.
