the best acceptable agrreement with "gold" or "golden"

I need help. I've been trying to recall an expression for the best acceptable decision which would be similar to "golden middle". I'm sure there's either "gold " or "golden" in it. I just don't remember the expression.

It's a good synonym. Would there be an expression with either "gold" or "golden" in it?

I wonder if you are thinking of the 'golden mean'.
