Smile Forget about or without about?

    Hello everyone,

Why is 'about' used in these sentences? Is it optional?

"I forgot about his arrangement to play tennis with us" "I forgot his arrangement to play tennis with us"

Thanks a lot and I appreciate your work!
I wish I had better English, but I work hard to improve it. I'm studying for IGCSE, so I'm only interested in BrE.

In your two sentences there is no real difference.

Umm... So when is there a difference?
