Could you help me on the answer?

    Hi teachers,
    Context:
The police are looking for Dinon in every town and village,’ Felix said quickly. ‘We’re watching the roads and the airports, and the houses of his family and friends …’

Would this one be an appropriate answer?
    1. Where were the police searching for Dinon?
They were searching for him in every town and village, on the roads, the airports, and the houses of his family and friends.

Or should it be like this?
    2. Where were the police searching for Dinon?
They were searching for him in every town and village; they were keeping an eye out for him on the roads, the airports, and the houses of his family and friends.

My opinion: I believe the first one is enough because to look for, to watch for, and to search for, are synonyms, aren't they?

    Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, "They were looking for him everywhere" is sufficient.

    Hi 5jj,
Thanks for your reply. Even though that's absolutely true, the thing is the students have to write everything. This is for a listening exercise, so they have to write the whole answer, "They were searching for him in every town and village, on the roads, the airports, and the houses of his family and friends."
I assume that there is no need to write, "they were keeping an eye out for him", is there?"

In how many different places were they looking for him, and what were those places?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Hi emsr2d2,
Wow! How do you do that????? It's incredible!!! It fits perfectly!
And the answer is, 'They were looking for him on the roads and the airports, and the houses of his family and friends'.

Re: Could you help me on the answer?

    Hi,
Sorry my answer was wrong. I should be, "They were looking for him in every town and village and the roads, the airports, and the houses of his friends and family."
