Please, tell me if the following sentence is ok:

I usually don´t eat meat, unless I don´t have any other choice.

I know unless makes the clause negative so it is actually a double negative... but when I replace unless with except if, it doesn´t seem to make sense if it is unless I have any other choice.

Or shouldn´t we use unless in a sentence like this at all and rather replace it with some other expresion?

Thanks a lot

Both "... unless I don't have any other choice" and "... unless I have no other choice" are fine.

and do they have the same meaning? That the speaker eats meat only when he/she doesn´t have anything else to eat?
