Suggest your friend buys a book

I was taught that a sentence with "suggest" goes like this:

I suggest (that) he (should) buy a book. ----> I suggest he buy a book.

Now, when I've found this sentence, I'm confused:
Suggest your friend buys a book.

Most speakers of BrE don't bother with the subjunctive there.
