Hi, all:

I was listening to a song and the lyrics went:"I'm so close to crazy..."

I feel so curious. Shouldn't it be "I'm so close to craziness"?

I've also heard people say"I'm so close to desperate"....

Re: “Close to crazy”

Close to can mean “almost” in informal speech – so close to crazy/desperate means “almost crazy/desperate”.

By the way, songwriters don’t always use good English when writing song lyrics. Try and learn English from good, reliable sources, not English pop songs.
