1) The pictures
came out nicely. 2) The pictures came out nice.

I think that the second is natural to native English speakers, but because of my mother language, I might prefer using the first and think that way. So I would like to know if there is a meaning difference between them and which one do you use?

Thank you.

There is no difference in meaning. I would use the second. It describes the pictures, so it is an adjective. If you mean to describe how the process of "coming out" went, then use the adverb.

Thank you so much for the clear and fast reply and because of the fact that It describes the pictures, so it is an adjective. If you mean to describe how the process of "coming out" went, then use the adverb., I think I have to say, "there is a meaning difference between them". What do you think?

Keep it safe. VS. Keep it safely.

They are different, aren't they?

While I agree with Soothing Dave (as usual) it should be said that "came out nice" is colloquial AmE. I feel that "the pictures turned out beautifully" is equally natural and correct.

"Keep it safe" is much more natural than "keep it safely".

There is no practical difference in meaning between "came out nice" and "came out nicely."

"Keep it safely" is not a natural utterance for me.
