    One must submit his

    "One must submit his application by June 15."

    The above sentence sounds wrong to me: "his" should be "one's" if you ask me.

    What say you?

    This is an occasion when the passive voice comes in handy.

    'Applications must be submitted by June 15.'

    This is an old form that was used in the US until at least the 1980s. Note that even today "mankind" is used although about 50% of the population is female. I would opt to change the sentence to - One must submit this (or, the) application...

    Well, half of mankind are women! I cringe a bit whenever I read old writings that use "a man" for "a person". But Mankind is the species, and women are just as part of mankind as men are.
