Hello all users!

I would like to ask you if "to destage a tank" means the same as "to remove a scaffolding from a tank", based on a sentence from a painting manual.

Here is the sentence:

During destaging of the tank, staging clamps shall remain attached to the staging pole and shall not be removed inside the tank.

During destaging of the tank = during removal of a scaffolding inside the tank?

I think so. I may be wrong.

Thank you.

Here is some more context. Staging is to be of such construction that it can be disassembled and removed from the tank without damage to the coating. Repair shall be made according to MarineLine Representative after destaging is completed.

I would read "destaging" to be the opposite of "staging." If staging is putting up scaffolding, then destaging would be taking it down. Note that "destaging" isn't a real word, but is understandable from context.

There is little point asking exactly the same question, just with fewer words. You've been told that "destaging" isn't a standard English word.
