    quotation marks

I relate a part of an event as told by another as written. Are its quotation marks correct?

“Once I took the train…, I accidentally bumped into one of the students.”

“‘What the f*ck are you doing?’ He was very upset.”
“I said, ‘Sorry, the train is shaking badly.’”

“He looked at me and retorted, ‘Anyway, you’re condemned to die!’ The young man’s unpleasant attitude …, he didn't have to say that.”

    Re: quotation marks

I would do it like this:

Professor Wang wrote about his experience on the train:

........... Once I took the train…, I accidentally bumped into one of the students.

...... ... “What the f*ck are you doing? He was very upset.

.. ........ I said, Sorry, the train is shaking badly.”

.. .........He looked at me and retorted, Anyway, you’re condemned to die! The young man’s unpleasant attitude …, he didn't have to say that.

Indenting the quoted passage removes the need for all those quotation marks. You could also use italics:

Professor Wang wrote about his experience on the train:

........... Once I took the train…, I accidentally bumped into one of the students.

...... ... “What the f*ck are you doing? He was very upset.

.. ........ I said, Sorry, the train is shaking badly.”

.. .........He looked at me and retorted, Anyway, you’re condemned to die! The young man’s unpleasant attitude …, he didn't have to say that.
