    on a local football field

We play football on a local football field.

Is "on" a correct preposition here?
Can I use "in" or "at" instead?

    The same problem with:
Tennis is played on a court.

Re: on a local football field

As an NES but not a teacher:

I would play tennis on a grass court or a hard court.
The court represents the marked-out surface on which you would play. I would play squash either at the squash club or on the squash court.

Similarly, I might play on a local football field, but I would play in/at a football stadium.

    Hope this helps

Re: on a local football field

You probably don't need to use "football" twice in such close proximity.

Re: on a local football field

In the UK, professional footballers play football on a football pitch inside a football ground/stadium.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
