    Smile allowance

    Hi

Could anyone please help me with the meaning of the phrase below :

Good agreement is seen, specially when allowance is made for the varying gas density along the tube.

    Thanks

It seems to be an extremely lazy way of saying that there is a good correlation (between whatever variables are being tested), and that the correlation would probably be higher if it weren't for the variability of the gas density.

    Re: allowance

But I think it would mean totally diverse.
It attempts to say that if it were the conditions in which the varying gas density would be possible, the correlation would be still higher.

    I'm so confused:S

    Re: allowance

Raymott's version makes as much sense as possible. Your version does not fit the (admittedly unclear) original words at all.

No, I don't think it means, "Good agreement is seen; and especially when we allow the gas density to vary."
"Making allowance for" usually means "taking into account the disadvantages of" not "Allowing the beneficial effects of".
But I'm confused too. Do you want the probable meaning of a sentence that you need to understand, or are you trying to write a sentence that means what you say in this post?

    Re: allowance

I want the probable (or the exact!) meaning of the sentence.
    Thanks for the explanations.
