    Sentence structure

Is the following sentence simple or compound?

We picked the apples ourselves and baked a pie.

I think it is a compound sentence since coordinating conjunction is used to join clauses. But then the second clause does not have a subject so it can be a simple sentence.

    Explain please.
    Welcome to the forum.

That's not really how the forum works. Firstly, we don't help with homework. Secondly, we expect students to try to answer a question themselves first. Thirdly "Explain please" is not appropriate. You have the internet, grammar books and other places to go for help with these things.

So - do you think it is a simple sentence or a compound sentence? Explain your choice.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
