    Present Perfect Tense

Hi, can anyone tell me why I can't say:-

I have learnt English since I was a child.

    but I can say:-

I have lived in London since I was a child.

    Thank you!

    Re: Present Perfect Tense

Can it be the answer to the question: How long have you been learning English?

Is "I have been learning English since I was a child" better or the same?

I didn't have any context at the start it was just a sentence I thought about and it didn't sound correct. Later, I wrote the message about the question because I started to think about it as maybe it could be the answer to the question.
