Maybe its not an idiom or saying but it's bothering me for some time now .

Anyway, there is pretty popular american joke:

Why does snoop dog wear an umbrella ?
-Fo' drizzle.

Now, why that's supposed to be funny ? My best guess it has to do something with ebonics but still don't get it :( Any help ?

Hello,

Yes, this is a joke that plays on Ebonics. Snoop Dog is the name of an American rapper. "Fo'" is slang for "for" and drizzle means light rain.

So why does Snoop Dog wear a rain jacket? Fo' drizzle.

This joke may never truly be funny if you aren't a native speaker (it's not even that funny to begin with...) but hopefully now you understand it!

Best,
In Perfect English

"For shizzle" is urban slang, popularized by Snoop Dog meaning "for sure - absolutely - certainly!"
"Shizzle" sounds a lot like "drizzle" explained above as being a light rain. It's a pun.

Urban Dictionary: for shizzle

It's worth mentioning that you don't wear an umbrella. You carry or use an umbrella.

Then you probably never will.
But I"ll try one more time.
Let's pretend I have an expression I use: Schmitten. It doesn't matter what it means. I use it so often that when you think of me, you think of someone saying "Schmitten."

Someone says "What's Barb_D's favorite pet?" You say "A schmititen." Because it sounds like "kitten."

I still do not get it.

Snoop 'invented' his own suffixes, including -izzle added whenever he wanted to sound deep. Sh*t becomes shizzle, coffee becomes kizzle (if you like) and so on.

He often says "for shizzle" as his own personal variant of "for sure."

That's why "for drizzle" (a real word for light rain) strikes some people as funny, as it subverts his personal syntax with an ordinary one.

I actually found it quite amusing. I like jokes which use a play on words.
