    "resist the advances of ..."

"Beautiful vampire Djuna tries to resist the advances of the handsome, human screenwriter Paolo."

What pops into your head when you read this sentence?
I have got nothing because maybe, I don't understand what "resist the advances,,," mean...
    Help me please?

Paolo made advances. He tried to start some form of relationship, probably sexual.

Elena, instead of sending your thanks in a separate message, just click the Like button please.

The reason is that it is flagged as a new post, so we think you might have a follow-up question or something to add. Those of us with slow connections and/or old computers have to waste valuable time waiting for it to appear.

Additionally, don't ask us to do your homework, please.
