Hello,

I wonder if 'quite' collocates with 'remember". I haven't found it in my collocations dictionary, but something tells me it's possible :-?

I quite remember locking the door.

Thank you!

We usually "don't quite remember."

I quite remember locking the door.
Clearly, distinctly and, in a more appropriate context vividly collocate frequently with affirmative remember.

I don't think I locked the door.
Hmm, did I remember to lock the door?
I don't quite remember locking the door.
I don't remember locking the door.

I remember locking the door.
I clearly remember locking the door.

Damn! I forgot to lock the door....

etc
These words do not, of course, necessarily bear any relation to whether the door was actually locked. In the days when we still spoke, I remember dialogues such as:

Mrs 5jj: I don't think you locked the door when we left.
5jj (confidently): I distinctly remember locking the door, Fuzzikins.
Mrs 5jj (sweetly): Was that before or after you went back in to find your keys, Handsome?
5jj: Before. I vividly remember that, and .... ah. I'd better go back.

It's off-topic, but I can't resist the temptation to ask what image "Fuzzikins" is meant to conjure up :)

If the topic is my wife, I am delighted to be off-topic.
