Can someone help me to make this read better

I am looking to return to work after a career break, in which I initially raised my daughter and subsequently cared for my unwell mum and now wish to find the right job.

Maybe you can simplify. Here's a quick idea:

I have been out of the workforce to care for family needs, and now returning I hope to find a job that I can excel in.

If this is in a cover letter or a business interview I would try to be quick and precise with my wording.
