Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge needed in the work place. Others think that they should give courses regardless of whether these courses are useful to an employer. What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?
This is a question from an IELTS test, so could you correct it, please?.
Schools and universities are the place where the generations are graduated. That means that graduates spend all the university life studying and learning, after that they will start the real life. Consequently, I think that these graduates should be provided with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace.
Employers in any field asked for experience from any one due to the fact that they know that students in the universities do not learn any useful Knowledge for workplace. Students just study courses regardless of whether these courses are benefit to an employer. For instance, if someone applies to any company even if it is governmental, they ask for experience and they do not want to use a new graduate.
In addition, graduates themselves do not feel confidence when they apply to any job since they know that their knowledge cannot service them in the work place. For example, if anyone studies an English teacher, universities will give him/her courses about English and the history of English but latter when he/she stops in front of students, this teacher will feel that he/she do not know anything about how to transfer the information to student.
Moreover, graduates need skills and knowledge to become a good worker and to develop their countries. No one can begin any job without experience or skills to help them. For example, any graduate should be provided with courses to teach them how to behave with people even if he/she study in any field.
In conclusion, In my opinion Universities should know and realize that graduates need skills that benefit them in the workplace. Therefore, they have to teach them what is benefit not just giving them courses without caring whether the courses are useful or not.
